Gallery: Royal London One-Day Cup – Essex v Lancashire, Chelmsford

I finally made it to Chelmsford, after several years of being told I need to come over for a game and a failed attempt earlier in the year through being poorly. Another first class ground to tick off the list. Today, Essex v Lancashire in the 50 over contest. Thoroughly enjoyable day.

Gallery: Women’s t20 Finals Day – RAF Vine Lane, Uxbridge

Today, a cricket event I heard about through Twitter.

I am ashamed to say I didn’t know the first thing about the women’s county set up in England. I follow the fortunes of the England Ladies closely and love watching them play, but the county system was totally new to me. I saw the Women’s t20 Finals Day being advertised through the Middlesex Women’s Twitter account, and decided to head along to RAF Vine Lane in Uxbridge to see what it was all about.

What a fantastic day. Excellent cricket and gorgeous sunshine. With England internationals and top quality cricket on display it was a shame there weren’t more spectators, but the crowd that were there enjoyed the day. Notts Ladies won the tournament, followed by Middlesex and Kent. On the strength of today, I’d love to watch more of the domestic women’s game in the future. Thoroughly enjoyable.

NB: All photos belong to me, but if any of the girls playing would like copies of the photos, please feel free to email me and we’ll sort something out.

Gallery: Royal London One-Day Cup – Middlesex v Warwickshire, Lord’s

Back to Lord’s for the first home match of the new 50 over domestic game. The sun was shining and the cricket was tense, thrilling and ultimately disappointing for the home fans. However the highlight of this match, for me, was seeing Jonathan Trott return to Lord’s and return to form after a difficult winter. I for one have missed the scratching of the crease and weird and wonderful facial expressions he pulls while out in the field. It’s good to see him back again.

Gallery: Investec Test Series – England v India, Day 5, Lord’s

I got three tickets in the ballot for Day 5 of the Lord’s test against India. It was a risk, an optimistic one too, but we did see some cricket. It wasn’t pretty, it wasn’t fun from an English perspective, and I gave up through despair after lunch, but I saw Joe Root’s 50 and Moeen Ali being his brilliant bearded self. Sorry there aren’t more. Will try harder next time.

Gallery: Lady Taverners XI v England Women XI, Wormsley

I was asked to come along to Wormsley to take some photos of a Lady Taverners game against the England Women. What an opportunity, and what a lovely day. Here are some highlights of the 20 over game, featuring the England ladies and some former England test cricketers in the form of Matthew Hoggard, Andy Caddick and Ian Salisbury.

All these photos were taken on behalf on the Lady Taverners. Please go support them and the work they do.

Gallery: Natwest t20 Blast – Middlesex v Gloucestershire, Lord’s

Still slightly tired from a full day at Wimbledon the day before, I turned up to Lord’s for the t20 against Gloucestershire. Middlesex badly needed another win, and the weather cruelly denied us the chance to try. Nevertheless, it was a good atmosphere and a chance to see Lord’s in its floodlight glory. Very impressed with the performance of Harry Podmore, who keeps taking wickets effectively and took an excellent catch in the field too.

Gallery: Wimbledon 2014

Something other than cricket today. My second ever visit to Wimbledon.

An early start (4am), four hours in The Queue and another nine hours of excellent and thrilling tennis. I queued for Wimbledon tickets last year on Middle Saturday, and wanted to return to spend more time in the ground rather than outside. It was worth it, especially spending another hour in the resale queue for tickets to Court 2 to watch Jo-Wilfried Tsonga v Sam Querrey. We were treated to a five-set thriller that couldn’t be completed due to fading light. What a day.

Matches featured in the photos include:

Men’s Doubles: Juan-Sebastian Cabel & Marcin Matkowski v Marcelo Demoliner & Purav Raja

Men’s Singles: Roberto Bautista Agut v Jan Hernych

Men’s Singles: Jo-Wilfried Tsonga v Sam Querrey

(AELTC would like me to say these photos are for personal use only. Sorry)
